Hi all,
Dennis here from change it coaching, with day 4 of our 5-day challenge: how to become successful in any area of your life!
I am very excited that you are still with me on this 5-day journey, where I am helping to get from good to great.
So far we have covered:
Day 1: Finding your Clarity;
Day 2: How is your Energy;
Day 3: What’s your Purpose.
We have 2 more days to go, in the meantime, if you have followed some of the steps, please share with everyone how you feel about the techniques and tools we have used so far.
Day 4 is all about the by far most important thing that is probably holding you back from becoming extremely successful in whichever area of your life you decided to move the needle.
Remember a time when you finally found that course, that inspiring book or that golden business opportunity and you got so caught up in it. You became absolutely passionate about it, found out even more information, read the reviews and asked around to those who had already started.
You were so full of energy, nothing could stop you! Except…The COURAGE that was lacking to fully go for it!
Am I good enough? Why would someone by from me? I don’t have enough experience for that promotion. I have no story to tell.
This is one of the most common errors we run into, and these are purely instilled by ourselves!
Do you want to know the good news? It can be reversed and today we will go through some techniques and tools to change some beliefs that you are holding against yourself, activate continuous courage and skyrocket your confidence and success.
The magic word for today is COURAGE.
Based on scientific research under the top %5 high performers in the world, courage is not just a simple act of bravery, like helping an old lady crossing the busy streets, or tackling that shoplifters when he runs by you. Don’t get me wrong, these actions require courage and are very noble, but what the researchers found was much more deep than this.
When high performers use their courage, they speak up for themselves to others, about their emotions, feelings, desires, want and needs for example. By no means do they hold back. It doesn’t mean they disagree or argue with every single discussion that pops up, but they understand that they have to share what they want, on a consistent basis, in order to achieve their full potential.
We all have been in a meeting where there is always one person asking the obvious questions, that type of question that cracks up the entire room? Most people will actually laugh at that person, thinking something like: “Are you serious?”. Well, yes they are, and high performers are those that not laugh at them, they are that one person that says: “Hey, they also have a right to ask any question they want, so better listen and learn!”.
Real high performers, or great leaders understand the power of speaking up for others as well. They understand that this shows the courage to the people, who are just sitting there, silently and scared, that they are not alone, and also signals to the others, that they have to understand that all opinions matter.
Another great way to constantly develop your courage, is to celebrate the wins.
And not only the obvious ones, also the small ones in life. In fact, celebrating the smaller wins in life are more important to celebrate, as these lead to bigger wins and bigger celebrations.
Celebrating wins develop more action, more connection, more passion in your teams, in your relationships, in everything we do. We all love to have a good time, so when not celebrate those small steps, that ultimately lead to excellence.
It’s not only about a literal celebration with cakes and stuff, but also, and more importantly so, abut those little unexpected “Good job” or “Thank you for doing that for us”, that are making the biggest impact in our lives.
Remember how you felt the first time you went to school and wanted to play with some kids? Your mom or the teachers probably encouraged you to just do it, and went absolutely crazy when you actually went on and play with the other kids? That’s how fundamental and motivating celebrating the wins can be. And what better way to celebrate the wins you can find to celebrate it with loved ones, your colleagues, your peers, your bosses. It is a small act but will go a long way.
Let’s go through some very important steps and find what makes you a courageous person, leader, parent or partner.
How do you practice, how do you become better at it, how do you involve others?
Before we go into this, please comment in the comment section how you are doing so far, and if you want to find out the full details on COURAGE, send an email to changeitcoaching@gmail.comand I will get back to you.
I am going to share 3 strategies with you in order to see how courageous you are and how we can lift up your game. Not only will I share the strategies with you, I will also give you some guiding questions you need to ask yourself day in day out, and start practicing your courage.
